Inkjet Printer Cartridge - Refill The Ink

As much as technology has advanced in the world of inkjet printers, the printer cartridge is an item that we still have to factor into the performance and cost of the printer.  Fortunately, there is a world of options in the inkjet printer cartridge market that make it easier and easier to keep pumping out high-volume, low-cost copies, photos, faxes, etc.

One of the hidden costs of any printer is the cost of printer inks.  In the past, especially, one of the consumer complaints of some of the less expensive (and sometimes more expensive, too!) printers was how quickly they ended up with empty ink cartridges.  The oft-repeated purchase of a new printer cartridge or new toners was a maddening experience and a costly one as well.  In addition, the interruption of important projects to run to the store (if indeed one was open) made the issue of cartridge performance and cost all the more important.

Even today, one should have a contingency plan, especially if your inkjet printer is called upon to produce a high volume of work.  Having a backup cartridge is a must for anybody that relies on their printer for more than just the printing of an occasional recipe or song lyrics.  Fortunately for the consumer, many office-supply businesses are selling remanufactured cartridges for significantly lower prices than the original.  Add in the fact that cartridge refills are available at a myriad of locations, there is no reason to have any of your projects stalled.

If you are in the market for an inkjet printer, before you get caught up in comparing features of the latest and greatest, you should compare the price and the stated capacity of each cartridge.  When it comes right down to comparing the prices of printers, you should have an idea of the cost per page, and that has everything to do with the cost of the printer cartridge. Furthermore, you should make sure that replacement cartridges and toners are easy to find.  So before you decide to save money on a printer made by an obscure manufacturer, you should do a little investigating as to price and availability of the printer cartridge, inkjet or otherwise.

If you are limited on time, you should make comparison of the brands that have a lengthy and solid reputation in the inkjet printer and printer cartridge business.  Take a look at brands like Canon, Brother, Epson and HP for starters.  Canon printer ink, for example, can be easily found at electronic stores, office-supply stores and department stores, in both new and remanufactured condition.  If you are making cost comparisons between the above brands, be sure to include estimates on cost per page on comparable models.

With all the resources open to today’s consumer there is no reason to ever be without a spare inkjet printer cartridge.  As quality and performance have improved in the cartridge and toner market, high-volume projects can be completed in-home by anybody.  Buy new, buy remanufactured and rely on refills for all your inkjet cartridge needs.
