Photo Printer Paper Determines The Quality Of The Photo
One of the byproducts of the advance in printing capabilities is the need for photo printer paper. Now that more and more people are turning into pseudo-professional photographers, the clamoring for home produced photo prints is ever-increasing. To appease that need and the photographer in all of us, a whole range of photo printer paper is now readily available.
The kind of printer you currently own, the quality of reproduction you are looking for, the level of professionalism that you seek, the style of impression you are after, etc. all are factors that influence your decision on the kind of photo quality paper you buy for your printer. There is a wide array of paper on the market. From basic to premium quality, from matte paper to glossy photo paper, there are a number of directions you could go.
The same companies that make the inkjet photo printers, almost across the board, manufacture photo printer paper as well. In most cases these same manufacturers will suggest that for best results you should use the paper that is indicated for each specific printer. There are some exceptions to this rule, especially when dealing with photo paper that is of a uniform size. But in the case of special photo printers manufactured by Canon, Epson, Hewlett Packard, Brother and other brands, it is best to use the photo paper as recommended. Many of the compact printers use photo printer paper that is specifically made for them.
The prices on paper for the photo printer can vary wildly. If you are not trying to produce gallery level, super-high resolution photos, but instead want to print and preserve a nice quality image, you can save a lot of money and buy inexpensive matte photo paper. This kind of paper is nicely suited for producing a high volume of photos without costing you an arm and a leg. A low-cost example of this is the Canon 4” x 6” sheets of matte photo paper, which come in packs of 120 sheets for as low as $12.99. That’s a lot of photo bang for your printer buck.
If you shop around you will be able to find professional grade glossy photo paper for reasonable prices as well. For your HP printer, you might consider the HP Advanced glossy photo paper, which can be purchased in 100 count supplies of 8.5” x 11” sheets. These are compatible with inkjet printers across the board and reportedly resist smearing and smudging quite well.
Many brands have come up with kits that include photo printer paper as well as a photo cartridge. Because of the heavy use of ink in the photo printing process, the capacity of the cartridge can affect your overall costs as well. Fortunately the prices of cartridges have come down as the popularity of do-it-yourself photo printing has increased.
In the final analysis, the variety of printer paper and its relative affordability give everyone the ability to produce an incredible amount of photos. For personal capturing of memories or the production of professional presentation material, photo printer paper is the answer.
